Mandarin Near the Smithsonian MetroMetro Access – 4 Blocks
Price Range – $295 Weekend to $595 Weekdays

The Bottom-line: Tread lightly when considering this hotel as your destination. The staff was repeatedly praised over many reviews, but guests often noted this hotel falls short of other Mandarin experiences. The location is ideal for museums and monuments, but not accommodating for those who want to walk to restaurants or bars nearby. A lot of guests seem to expect too much from this place and were underwhelmed when they arrived. We got the feeling that those who have a big budget will find this hotel is accommodating and has a superior staff. All in all some found the dining to be less than great, and this is why we recommended those conscious of money to avoid this hotel as a splurge. Instead checkout hotels on the other side of the Mall (perhaps near the Metro Center Station, or Chinatown).
