Hotels Near Braddock Metro

1484271751_08_thumbs_upRecommended Hotel: Best Western
Why: Free Parking, Best Rates, Free Breakfast

There are four hotels within walking distance to the Braddock Metro station. Braddock is a new Metro station in Alexandria and staying here is preferable to the King Street station in Alexandria because on average hotels are cheaper, plus the location is close to most of Alexandria’s main tourist attractions. The one drawback however, is that each hotel is 5-6 blocks away from the Metro. The good think is that each of the hotels offers a shuttle to the Metro and a shuttle to the airport. Out of the bunch we recommend the Best Western. It offers free parking and on average has the lowest rates on weekdays. None of the other hotels offer free parking. On weekends rates for all of the hotels will fall, and its common to see each of them close in price. All four hotels offer free wifi, but only the Best Western offers free breakfast with hot items. Because a vast majority of all reviews are positive and the Best Western offers free breakfast along with free parking we suggest taking a look at it first if you are planning to stay in Alexandria near the Braddock Metro.

what_to_east_48What to Eat: Old Town Alexandria offers a wide variety of dining options. If you don’t wish to wander far from your hotel, Joe Theissman’s Restaurant is a casual dining spot with something on offer for everyone, from families with children to anyone wanting to watch the day’s game. If you’re willing to explore the area a bit more, walk down King Street towards the water—or take the free trolley that runs from the metro station to the waterfront—and you’ll find something to satisfy your appetite. For a nicer night out that won’t break the bank, The Majestic and Columbia Firehouse both offer slightly upscale takes on American classics and terrific service. You’ll also find that the bars run the spectrum from divey sports bars to upscale cocktails. For a special night out, make a reservation at PX, a 1920s-style speakeasy offering innovative cocktails.

things_to_do_48Things to Do: Old Town also offers its share of shopping. While you’ll find a number of national chains, such as Anthropologie or Lululemon, you’re more likely to find locally-owned antiques shops and clothing boutiques. If you can’t find what you’re looking for on King Street, hop a water taxi to Georgetown or across the Potomac to National Harbor. (National Harbor is also a short drive over the Woodrow Wilson Bridge.) The historic district here offers the opportunity for guided or self-guided walking tours of the landmarks, such as the church where George Washington worshiped. The waterfront is also a popular spot to take in the sights—here is also where you’ll find the Torpedo Factory Art Center with rotating displays of local art. And, of course, Mount Vernon, the estate of George Washington, is just south of Old Town, a short drive or a scenic bike ride away. The Mount Vernon Trail, which connects Mount Vernon to DC runs directly through Old Town and is a popular trail for runners, walkers, and bikers.
